Descartes MacroPoint is a great tool to track and trace the loads. It gives peace of mind knowing where the truck is located to determine if the load will be picked up on time and delivered on time, making your job easy and reliable. Works perfectly with our TMS and offers great support if needed. We use it every day to track our loads and guarantee excellent service levels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I would say is that the pings are made every 15 minutes. I would love to be able to get those pings every 5 minutes. But that's not a big deal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ability to easily track loads to drivers cell phones for customers. Anytime we have called Macropoint to get more tracks loaded onto our account , they have been super helpful. Very easy to use software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No login for customers to have a portal to view their loads and theirs only. Would be nice if we could setup a way that each customer have a login and when we track a load, select that customer in our database so they can view their loads only and see nothing else but their loads. No ability to edit or see our account info etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Well, I actually work with this tool because I'm a dispatcher in GLT, so it's really helpful since in this business is important to know the current location of your trucks, to know ETA and also it helps to make decisions when necessary, according to the routes the trucks are taking and if they have any problem. Well sometimes I do not know, I'm not completely sure why it happens, but there are some glitches when we're tracking team drivers (2 drivers), we have been ensured that we have 2 drivers in the same location because they are preferred carriers but sometimes their locations in macro point are different, but after some time it returns to normal and shows the same location. I don't know if it is my "favorite" thing, but definitely the biggest upside to Macro Point for my team and I is the EDI integration with my best customer. I am not sure if other tracking software companies or competitors to Descartes offer this, but it is absolutely a game changer. Eliminating the need for hourly updates (down to even 15 min updates) being manually entered in my customer's portal has saved our team more time than I can possibly put a number to. It is also user-friendly in my opinion, and I like how the data is stored for quite some after the track has completed. There have been a handful of times where I have referenced a track history in order to prove pickup and drop times, wait times, etc. to my customer, and more times than that to catch dishonest carriers - months, and once over a year back in time.
We use Macro Point to track AT LEAST 50 times a week, and the very small number of defects is greatly outweighed by the mostly positive and relatively simple experiences we do tend to have most of the time.
I have not used the "new" Macro Point it keeps showing as coming soon with updates to the facade and appearance/functionality, but I do intend to do that soon since it seems like eventually we will be unable to use it in it's current form. However, I think that unless it fixed any of the little bugs/issues that occasionally pop up now, it maybe did not need any update? The simpler the better both for brokers and carriers - but once I start using the updated platform I would be happy to drop a review on it as well.
Customer service with Macro Point is stellar, hands down the best among all tracking software I have used (and had the need to call in to get help with). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The downside of Macro Point I think is the connectivity issues that a lot of carriers seem to have vs. other tracking software. We have a lot of "tracking - waiting for updates" messages. Upon calling the drivers and guiding them through the "location services need to be turned to ALWAYS ON" spiel, as well as tweaking any other settings that may need adjusting, we still cannot get a good track. I would say the frequency of this is about once every 25-30 loads, but with the volume my team moves that is at least twice a week. Also the ELD integration to track the truck that way is not very user friendly. Cannot figure out why sometimes it works but most of the time it does not, but that is probably something I should inquire about first before I go judging its efficacy. One other thing I do not like is the inability to correct an accidental press by a carrier who marks themselves as checked-in or delivered when they have not yet. Having to start the track all over again rather than just resetting a part of the load on the screen or clicking a button can become a headache. Also when that happens and we start a new track, that means we have two sets of data we have to reference, since the old track's data will not import into the new track (even though it is the same truck on the same route with the same phone number, etc.)
Another kind of nit-picky issue that I have is that the geofence for pickups and deliveries can be rather broad and definitely forgiving - I would prefer a 200 yard or so radius for the geofence to trigger an event, but sometimes we have trucks that are still over a mile away showing on site at pickup or delivery. Unless investigated thoroughly, these false events can initiate some awkward conversations with customers. Doubling back and realizing that you technically are not at the location yet can sometimes make you look a little inept, or possibly even deceitful.
The good far outweighs the bad with Macro Point, but it is much easier to list what you are dissatisfied with than all the things you like. That's just human nature. I would still give Macro Point an 8/10 every day of the week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All you need is a phone number and for them to accept in the app to track where the driver is. Whenever we need assistance there is a customer support agent ready to assist. We use this service daily to add a layer of visibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We work with several drivers and trucks, so we have to use phone number mostly and that means relying on them being with the shipment and giving us the correct information. Also filling in repeated pick up and delivery addresses is manual and I wish there was an autofill / suggested addresses that we could click to speed up the process. It wouldn't mean macropoint decides the address but gives the option to use addresses we already have used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We appreciate the automation and peace of mind that Macropoint provides us. It eliminates the hassle and worry of tracking carriers. We use this daily in our operation and strive to drive our compliance number. Integration and implemenation was very quick and easy. Customer Support is unmatched with detailed business reviews. None that come to mind - I know sometimes carriers push back on having to use it but if a carrier isn't willing to accept GPS tracking, it's probably not a carrier we want hauling our freight anyways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MacroPoint is a powerful tool for anyone in the logistics industry. If the Driver is on Macro Point you don't have to call the dispatcher or driver for the updates you can directly check it on ALJEX under Check Calls. There have been minor glitches now and then, like delays in updates, but overall, it’s very stable.I personally avoided 3-4 cases of Double Brokerage with the help of Macro Point Only. So you can say it helps you to stay away from the fraudsters. And it is very easy to used with minimal set up requried Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There have been minor glitches like delays in updates. Some times drivers don't get it so we have to send them manually Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Macropoint enable us to verify correct details of driver like his truck number, trailer no. and contact number.
Being as a freight broker, it helps to take timely delivery appointments on the basis of tracking by checking updated location of driver as per he is moving. It also help to automatically change the shipment status from pick up, loaded to delivery as per update of driver's location. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When we change the details of driver in shipment if we have to add up new details as sometime it is drivers team on shipment then sometimes tracking link is not sent to driver's number also to check the tracking, we have to scroll down on Aljex to see driver current location so the user interface could be better. I wanted to share my positive experience with MacroPoint and how it has significantly improved our logistics operations. The real-time GPS tracking and automated updates provide complete shipment visibility, allowing us to monitor everything from pickup to delivery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wanted to share my thoughts on Descartes MacroPoint. While there's always room for improvement in any platform, I've found MacroPoint to be consistently reliable and effective for our current needs. It's a solid tool that has been serving us well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like most about Descartes MacroPoint is that we have access to track trucks that are not intracompany vehicles.
In the past our sales department, customers, and others have only been able to attain this information via phone call, text, or email - which then the accurate arrivals, departures, etc can get lost in the mix. But with this software, we can now see accurate pinged locations on the vehicles so our operation can run at maximum efficiency.
I use this program every single time we have a shipment going out.
Also the User Interface is tremendously easy to navigate and use. It only took me a few minutes of playing around in it to be able to figure out all the functions that we have available.
The implementation and integration process was quick, and easy.
For a smaller company such as ours, it only took a week or two to get completely set up.
Customer support has been fantastic since we started the process. They clearly communicate who will be running each step of the process, as well as checking back up to make sure everything is running as it should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pretty much the only thing I don't like about MacroPoint is that for each specific load you have to enter all of the information over again. I wish there was a feature that would save all the old locations to be selected for use again to make the entry process faster, but that is a small price to pay for what it accomplishes on the back-end.
