Integrates both payroll and our HR processes and documentation all in one place. Helpful for our multi-location business and that remote workers and managers are able to access things in real time. It has streamlined what we do and made us more efficient. We also love the reporting functions, giving us real-time data and analytics of our workforce. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A lot of system changes and updates that are not always communicated to us, and which can totally change the look of where to find things, plus sometimes the software updates cause glitches that we then need to find a fix for (mainly in the integration through to payroll and the roster function). The product is so easy to use, its flows nicely, simple and effective to look at. The help guide is easy to follow. the chatbot they have is also very helpful, it gives you tips to read before its speaking to a person.
we have been using employment hero for 2 years and payroll has never been easier. we don't have the HR yet but it's something we will look into in the future. The implementation took 6 weeks, i was up and running live so easy. this was due to how the implementation is done and how helpful the staff were. there were 2 options, i took the self-implementation but EH was there all the way through it. we don't have it integrated into any systems but that's because our ERP is old. it does integrate into office 365 calendars nicely so all staff are able too see when their team members are away. i dont have any dislikes at the moment. it does all want i want it too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that Employment Hero is very user friendly and is a simple, easy to look at lay out. It does not feel complicated and does not overwhelm due to the "clean" look of the platform.
The implementation was fairly easy and, once you know how to do something or understand how it "thinks", then it is pretty intuitive to use.
Personally I use EH on a daily basis and find it has reduced my general admin time as well as added some easy "value add" to the team. Things like reminding me of people's birthdays so I can send a personal message wishing them a happy day. They love it and it only takes me a moment to send the email. I do not have to monitor calendars every day or every week etc.
There are many features that we do not use as yet, simply because I have not had the time to investigate and understand them fully and therefore have not been able to implement them, i.e the Shout Outs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My biggest frustration with EH during both during implementation and on an ongoing basis is the support. I find it very frustrating that I cannot call someone easily and chat through how to do something or an issue I have. Granted there are a lot of training videos available, but if you get stuck on them or just need a quick answer (i am more of a talk me through it than watch a video kind of person), there is no option for this. The Help provided via the Chat bot, used to be better, but now I find this too very frustrating and time consuming to navigate. You have to answer a lot of questions, double up on information and basically be extremely persistent before they connect you with someone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What we love most about Employment Hero is how easy it makes things for our team, whether it’s checking payslips, applying for leave, or updating details. It’s simple, convenient, and keeps everything in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Employment Hero is a great platform overall, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. The chatbot can be tricky to navigate, most of the time I get the answers I need, but when I try to connect with a real person, the messages often don’t seem to go anywhere. No matter how many times I try, it sometimes just won’t register, which can be frustrating when you need support.
I’ve also found that the EH Work app can be a bit glitchy at times and doesn’t always function properly, which makes it hard to rely on when you're on the go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Employment Hero has made such a difference to how we manage things at Waterware. Before, everything was manual, including onboarding with spreadsheets, juggling documents, trying to track who had what device; this was all messy and time-consuming. What I love best about Employment Hero is how it is efficiently streamlined these processes. The onboarding and offboarding checklists are a game-changer for me, and it’s great being able to customise them for different departments. It’s made a big difference to how organised and efficient we are.
Bringing payroll into the same system just made sense for us. Tools like leave requests are handled automatically, everything syncs up, and there’s way less room for error. The mobile app’s been a hit too - staff can check their payslips or request leave straight from their phone. It’s one of those systems that just quietly makes everything run smoother behind the scenes. An excellent product! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly can't think of any! So far I haven't come across anything I would like to see work differently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The linkages between HR and Payroll, plus the ability to keep all the information within one system. It is definitely better than a paper system, way more efficient.
It logs the changes in roles, salary, leave, records certifications etc. Which is all wonderful. The new forum is helpful because we don't have phone support. I would check it for something weekly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Processing the leave through payroll is the absolute pits. This would be our number 1 gripe.
Its not hard to learn on a basic level, but the level after that when you start to refine the detail, gets difficult if you don't have someone available to guide and explain it to you. Great system, but you need to understand it, or you are grappling around in the dark. You can see this by using the forum. 2 or 3 years in we are still learning. I’ve really enjoyed using Employment Hero, particularly the rostering system. While it's similar to many other platforms, I’ve found it easier to navigate, and the shortcuts make building and adjusting rosters quick and efficient. Staff clocking in and out through the portal is simple, and processing timesheets and running payruns is very straightforward. Overall, it’s a user-friendly platform that makes both HR and payroll easy to manage and even easier to teach others.
The implementation process and support from the Employment Hero team have also been great. They’re helpful and responsive, which makes getting started much smoother. My advice would be to give yourself as much time as possible during setup to get everything properly configured—starting with a solid foundation makes a big difference in getting the most out of the system. One area where I’d love to see improvement is in the roster template section. It would be great to be able to build out templates and manually add placeholder names before staff are fully onboarded. As a seasonal business, we scale up by around 20 staff in winter, many of whom are from overseas and can't onboard until they’ve sorted their bank and IRD details. At the moment, planning the roster without names can get confusing, so having the option to draft more flexible templates would really streamline the process. Employment Hero is a really useful all-in-one HR system, everything from payslips to leave is in one place, which makes work so much easier to manage! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
However, since it has a lot of features, I still find it difficult to get used to everything. It feels a bit all over the place to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I’ve been using Employment Hero for over two years, and I’m genuinely impressed with how responsive the team is to feedback. It’s great to see suggestions being listened to and reflected in the platform itself.
The product is constantly evolving — with new features regularly added to improve usability and enhance the overall experience. One of the things I really appreciate is how user feedback is not only welcomed but clearly acted upon. It makes a big difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With the advancements in AI, it’s great to see the technology being widely and effectively used to support customers. However, it can sometimes take a bit of time to reach a real person when dealing with more complex queries.
That said, I’m confident that AI bots are learning every day, and the experience will continue to improve and become more seamless over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system is relatively simple to implement and they have a good support team Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The system feels like it was designed by teams that have never actually done HR themselves - or taken the time to speak with people who have done HR. It feels as though features were created solely so that the sales team could say they have the feature, but in reality they don't function in the way that you would expect them to. A prime example is the new "forms" feature which isn't actually a form, it's just another survey feature.
Additionally, it appears as though the goal of Employment Hero is to limit the number of potential integrations a business can have in order to entice people to utilise Employment Hero for all aspects but since the features they have are not built for purpose it just means companies are more likely to abandon EH in search of systems that do allow you to find the best in breed programs and integrate them all.
The reporting feature is limited in that you can't schedule or share custom reports with anyone else. Nor can you even save the same filters for your own future use.
Ironically, the integration between Employment Hero HR and their white-labelled payroll is not as good as the integration between other HR platforms and that same payroll system. In using the system it feels as though the devs (presumably at the order of management) are prioritising creating new features rather than improving existing ones.
The workflows feature is extremely limited and often faulty - requiring you to cancel all in process workflows if you want to make an update.
If you're wanting to assign a document just to future employees, bad luck, unless you're wanting to create a "team" called "new" and assign that to everyone for the rest of your business' life which is a bonkers workaround that they've been pedaling for years.
Employment Hero has a lot of features, that cannot be denied, but unfortunately the vast majority of features operate poorly, and the rest are still not better than the best in the rest of the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
