As someone who is new to both my company and the world of compensation, I’ve found Salary.com to be an incredibly helpful and user-friendly benchmarking tool. The platform made what could have been a complex and overwhelming transition feel smooth and manageable.
The interface is intuitive, and the data is presented in a clear, digestible way. I’ve been able to quickly benchmark new roles with confidence, thanks to the reliable market data and easy-to-navigate features. It’s been a great resource for understanding compensation trends and ensuring our roles are aligned with industry standards.
Overall, Salary.com has been a fantastic tool for getting up to speed in my new role. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a straightforward and effective way to manage compensation benchmarking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found anything that I dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I’ve been using Salary.com pretty regularly and overall, I like it. It’s easy to use, the layout is clean, and I can usually find what I need quickly. The salary data is useful, especially when I’m doing comp reviews or trying to benchmark roles. One thing I really appreciate is that it gives a general salary range rather than just a single number—it helps set realistic expectations.
Another reason I keep coming back is that it’s a solid starting point for conversations around compensation, especially when needing something objective to reference with managers. It gives me something to point to that isn’t just internal assumptions or guesswork. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I don’t love is that sometimes the data feels a little too broad or generic, especially for niche roles or positions that vary a lot depending on industry. I also wish it had more current market trend data or a better sense of how salaries are shifting in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most about Salary.com is the depth and reliability of its compensation data. From an HR perspective, it’s an invaluable tool for benchmarking roles, supporting equitable pay practices, and aligning compensation strategies with market trends. The platform makes it easy to generate insights that help guide informed, data-driven decisions during workforce planning and salary reviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One limitation I’ve encountered is the relatively limited coverage of specialized roles in the biotech and medical device sectors—for example in Medical Affairs. Expanding the database to include a broader range of roles would significantly increase the platform’s value for HR professionals in these industries. Additionally, incorporating customizable industry filters or benchmarking by company size and maturity (e.g., early-stage biotech vs. large pharma) would be extremely beneficial. More transparency around data sources and the frequency of updates—especially for rapidly evolving roles—would also enhance confidence in the data.
While there is room for improvement in industry-specific role coverage, Salary.com remains a strong foundation for compensation benchmarking and HR planning. With continued enhancements and expanded role representation, it has the potential to be an even more indispensable tool for HR teams in specialized industries. Salary.com is an essential tool for our compensation study services. Its intuitive design and robust dataset are perfect for nonprofit benchmarking. We consistently receive outstanding support from our Customer Success specialist, who facilitates access to expert insights and thought partnership. The platform is incredibly user-friendly, and onboarding was remarkably quick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although Salary.com is a powerful tool, there's room for improvement in the user experience. The website's interface can be less intuitive than desired, often necessitating a repetitive series of clicks to reach specific pages or data. Furthermore, the absence of an auto-save feature is a notable drawback. It's easy to lose progress and unsaved work, particularly when engrossed in a task, if one forgets to frequently click 'save'. Our company has been using the Salary.com Comp Analyst tool for several years now, and we’re currently on our third renewal—a true testament to how valuable it has been to our compensation strategy. As someone in recruitment, I frequently compare market data from active candidates against the figures provided by Comp Analyst, and time after time, the tool proves to be incredibly accurate—regardless of role or level.
This consistent reliability gives us full confidence when benchmarking compensation for newly created roles or positions that come through my queue. It’s become an essential part of our hiring and compensation planning processes.
The tool itself is very user-friendly and intuitive, which makes navigating and pulling data a smooth experience even during busy periods. On top of that, the account management support has been excellent. Tania Louther, our Account Manager, has been incredibly responsive and helpful—always quick to answer questions and provide guidance when needed.
Highly recommend Comp Analyst for any organization looking to stay competitive and data-driven in today’s talent market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not all roles can be found on Salary.com Comp Analyst tool. Sometimes, you may need to go with the best, or closest description, which is always available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best aspect of Salary.com is its data-driven, comprehensive compensation insights, which provide organizations with:
Accurate Market Pricing: Access to reliable, up-to-date salary data across industries and regions to help benchmark roles effectively.
User-Friendly Platform (CompAnalyst): A centralized, intuitive system for managing job descriptions, salary ranges, and internal equity.
Custom Consulting Services: Expert-led support for compensation strategy, including pay equity analysis and organizational design.
Compliance & Planning Tools: Built-in analytics to support fair pay practices and prepare for future workforce needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Salary.com offers robust compensation tools, there are a few common limitations users have noted:
Cost: The platform and consulting services can be expensive, which may not be feasible for smaller organizations or nonprofits without substantial budgets.
Customization Constraints: Some users find limitations in tailoring reports or dashboards exactly to their organizational structure or specific needs.
Learning Curve: New users may need time and training to navigate the full features of CompAnalyst effectively.
Data Gaps: In niche industries or less common roles, market data may be less comprehensive or slower to update. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that Salary.com's data sources are not subjective like other compensation providers. They utilize payroll data in their results instead of soliciting HR professionals to fill out questionnaires. I also like that i'm utilizing a system that is very familiar to my staff. When they do research on their salary, many times they have brought me reports from salary.com. I'm able to provide feedback on their results based on comp analyst data and specifically address any compensation concerns using reports they trust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the more advanced features i've not successfully utilized. I would like to say they are not intuitive but i have to admit i have not done enough due diligence on my part to say that with the most utmost confidence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I love the most about using CompAnalyst (Salary.com) is the availability of market data for various market prevalent jobs across different industries and revenue sizes. With the availability to create composites, one could add other survey data subscriptions to the tool to get an overall market prospective. The market data in CompAnalyst is refreshed on a monthly basis and it lists out hot jobs too. The reports you could export are an additional bonus too. The Customer Support team is very responsive as well and is well equipped to address any questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While data for US is quite extensive in CompAnalyst in terms of industry and revenue cuts, but when looking at benchmark data for other countries outside the US, the data is often limited to All Industries / All Revenue data cuts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is incredibly user-friendly. Within a few clicks, you can easily access detailed salary reports, including median salary ranges, bonuses, benefits, and compensation trends for any job in any geographic area. The salary data is broken down not only by job title but also by location, industry, experience level, and company size. This makes the platform especially useful if you're considering a move to a different city or comparing salaries across various sectors. The level of customization available in the reports means that users can narrow down their search to get exactly the information they need.
Customer service is beyond accommodating!
Overall, I highly recommend Salary.com for anyone looking to get reliable salary information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have used other platforms with all the bells and whistles at a much hirer price and it was a waste of money as I could never really figure out how to download all my own information (job descriptions, details,) Salary.com is already set up and ready to go so you can filter as needed. Win-Win! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I am unable to find the exact same title in Salary.Com which is understandable since companies can make up titles as they see fit for their situations. However, Salary.Com is easy to search to find just the right fit. I love that I can customize with experience levels, education levels and other criteria. I also love how, after I customize that criteria, Salary.com will suggest other roles that may be a better fit for the selected criteria. I also like that I can request them to do a custom rate for me if I can't find just the right one. I have 5 geographic cities where we have employees and it is super easy to get a quick comp analysis on one or all areas at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't been able to add my own users. That would be convenient. Maybe I am missing something though and that functionality is there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
